Rita Mae Coe passed away peacefully on February 12, 2024, at the age of 95 years. Born October 27, 1928, she was the daughter of Alvin and Cinderella Norman (nee Glenn) of Wichita Falls, Texas. She married Melvin J. Coe, and they enjoyed 69 years together. Rita loved her family. She enjoyed quilting projects with her mother and sisters. Together with her husband, they owned and operated Coe’s Deerskin Resort on Scattering Rice Lake in Eagle River, WI. After retiring from running the resort, Rita volunteered for many years at the Eagle River Hospital Auxiliary Thrift shop.
Rita is survived by her children Melana (John) Purtell, Guy S. Coe, Sherry (Glenn) Thoele and Clay Coe, her grandchildren, Mark (Kris) Purtell, Brian (Chrissy) Purtell, Jennifer (Michael) Collins, Jacob (Jenni) Thoele, Jonathan (Maggie) Thoele, Jacquelyn Thoele and Sheila (Rick) Bragenzer. She also enjoyed the company of her many great-grandchildren, Brady, Megan, Emily, Matthew, Natalie, Charlotte, Barrett, Leo, Willis, Calvin, Amber, Brooke, Collin, and Daelyn. Rita is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home-Hartford, 226 S. Main St. on Friday, February 16th from 10:30 until Noon. A funeral service will follow at Noon. Rev. Scott Moore will officiate. Interment will be at King VA Cemetery, at a later date.
