Carol Ann (nee Neis) Barthel

Carol A. Barthel of Iron Ridge, WI, surrounded by her loving family, passed away, Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at the age of 75.  She was born December 21, 1942 in Columbus, WI the daughter of Oscar and Esther (nee Ladwig) Neis.  Carol was a graduate of Cosmotology School in 1982 and had her own business at Marquardt Manor in Watertown, WI.  She was raised on the family farm in Lowell, WI.  She loved her horse named ‘Honey’ and bird watching. Carol enjoyed many different activities.  She played softball, was a stock car driver who loved smashing cars, gardening (roses were her favorite) and watching ALL of Wisconsin sport teams. Badgers, Brewers, and Packers with Badgers at the top of her list.  She treasured mostly being with her family and being up “Nort” in Coloma, WI.

She is survived by her loving children Debra (David) Becker, Cathy (Jeff) Hoeft, Mark (special friend Mary.) Barthel, Lori (Shawn Silvey) Barthel, Julie (Mike Kaul) Brooks, and Brian (Alyssa Herr) Barthel. Also, surviving are 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, her sisters Marion Polzin and Barbara Davidsonl, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her husband Wayne, her parents, her brothers Raymond, Jerry, and Robert Neis, sisters Judy Jackel and Shirley Kittle.

Visitation will be Monday, November 5th, 2018 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Rubicon WI, at 10:00 am until 12:00 noon.  Mass of Resurrection will follow at Noon.  Interment at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Rubicon. The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Hartford is serving the family.
