Dorothy IZ Portz of Neosho, was Born to Eternal Life Monday, July 29th 2019 at the age of 71 years. She was born August 31st 1947, in Alabama, the daughter of Walter and B. Pauline (nee Smith) Malchek. She was married to Dennis L. Portz on August 28th 1971, at St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church, which they were life time members. They met at a birthday party through a co-worker at Broan. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother of three children and grandmother of nine grandchildren. Dorothy was an active member St. Olaf’s. She was in Choir, was a ladies aid member, worked on the caller, as the secretary, cooked for Senior Lunches, was a Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, youth group leader, she was a missionary for the Canada VBS, she did the cradle roll and many more activities within the church community. She was a longtime friend and Scholar of the bible in Searchers Bible Study. She helped cooked meals and taught life skills to immigrants. Her life time passion was cooking for not only her family but also hundreds of people. She enjoyed crocheting baby hats for the hospitals. She crocheted also baby blankets for many expecting mothers. Mom always felt very Blessed.
She is survived by her loving Husband Dennis L. Portz of 47 years. Dearest mother of Edie M Schlehlein, Steven L Portz and Laura A (Roger) Charly. Precious grandmother of Dale Schlehlein lll, Mitchell Schlehlein, Michael Schlehlein, Elizabeth Schlehlein, Andrew Schlehlein, Annabelle Charly, Roark Charly, Drake Charly and Ramsey Charly. Dear sister of Tony (Betty) Malchek and Barb (Danny) Kutzke. Also, survived by other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her brother Norbet Malchek, her sister-in-law Sun Pun Chong Troeller, her niece Shirley Malchek, her nephew Jason Malchek. Visitation will be Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 1– 3:00 at St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church, W653 Roosevelt Rd., Rubicon, WI. Funeral Service will follow at St. Olaf’s Church at 3 p.m. with Rev. Tom Pietz officiating.
