Gladys E. (Hensler) Soter

Gladys E. Soter of Columbus, formerly of Juneau made her journey home to her family on Saturday,  March 11, 2017 at the age of 88 years.  She was born on October 4, 1928, the daughter of Erich and Emma (nee Weihert) Hensler.  She married Loren G. Soter, Sr. on June 21, 1947.  Gladys had 10 children, and always loved babies.  She was blessed to see and hold 26 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.  Gladys had a passion for art, native American artifacts, poem writing, and learning.  She proved this by getting her GED at the age of 66 on September 26, 1994.  She was a member of Marsh Haven Nature Center and The Aztalan Historical Society.

Gladys is survived by her children, Loren Jr. (Marcia) Soter, Donna Usher, Anne Forseth, Lois Graff, Elaine Tucker, Karla (Ross) Ladwig, Lloyd (Dawn) Soter, Margaurite (Ed) Haase, Daniel (Becky) Soter, Dale (Andrea) Soter, and her many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Also survived by her sister Arlene (Elmer) Frey, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her husband Loren Sr., in 1985, parents Erich & Emma,  brothers and sisters, son-in-laws John P. Graff, and John Forseth, and infant granddaughter of John & Lois Graff. 

Family will receive relatives and friends, Saturday, March 18, 2017 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Oak Grove from 10:00-11:00 a.m.  Memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Dale Hella will officiate.  She will be laid to rest alongside her husband in a private service at Okeag Cemetery, Astico, Wisconsin.  Memorials to Wisconsin Ev. Lutheran Synod “Missions” would be appreciated.
