Carol Jean (Sell) Krause

Carol Jean (nee Sell) Krause of Clyman passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the age of 94 years.  She was born in the Town of Clyman on January 17, 1930, the daughter of Elmer and Frieda (nee Schultz) Sell.  She attended Oak Grove School, walking there every day!  Carol was confirmed at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Oak Grove on March 29, 1942.  She married Walter Krause on May 18, 1947 in Oak Grove. 

Walter and Carol lived in Clyman for 52 years, and in Juneau prior to that.  They enjoyed polka dances, many trips to Las Vegas together, and Friday nights out at the Blew Inn.  Carol enjoyed playing cards and getting her hair done every Friday.  She was a dedicated employee at Johnson Controls from 1963 – 1993.  Carol cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her smile would light up the room when she saw them.  She was a long-time member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau. 

Carol is survived by her loving children, Judy Kaul of Juneau, Shirley (Merlin) Luedke of Juneau, and Cindy Roberts of Clyman, by her special grandchildren, Julie (Roy) Rennhack, Sarah Luedke, Jami (Chad) Guenther, Heather (Jeremy) Cramer, Elizabeth (Andrew) Klossner, and Joseph (Jennifer) Roberts, by 10 great-grandchildren, by 4 great-great-grandchildren (with another due in October), by her siblings Allen (Shirley) Sell, Romelle Slade, and Robert Sell, her brothers-in law Herbert Grulke, Edward (Kathy) Krause and by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Carol is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter, grandson, Jay Kaul, her great-grandson Roy Rennhack, her sons-in-law John Kaul and Randal Roberts, and her siblings Lorraine Pieper, Virgil Sell, and Janice Grulke, brothers-in-law Clarence Pieper, Russel Slade, Hilmer (Inez) Krause, Carl Krause and sisters-in-law Helen and Beverly Sell.

Visitation is Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 1-3 p.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau.  The service will follow at 3 p.m.   Pastor Nicholas Mount is officiating.  Burial to immediately follow the service at the Juneau City Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John Ev. Lutheran Church or a charity of choice are appreciated.  The family would like to thank the caring staff at Clearview Nursing Home for their compassionate care of Carol.  The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home – Juneau is serving the family.
