Carol Woods Obituary

Carol Anne Woods, a warm, talkative, and endlessly creative woman, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, after a battle with cancer. She was 79.

Born on March 29, 1946, to Raymond Hoffmann and Helen Snuggs Hoffmann, Carol lived a life full of love, curiosity, and expression. She was the proud mother of four children and the beloved grandmother of 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, each of whom had a place on her ever-growing wall of family photos. Jim Woods father of Jackie Alexander (mother of Zoe and Ezra) and Ashley Cooper (mother of Ada, Evie, Russ, Bea, Alfred, and Gemma). Sharon Conley mother of Kevin Woods, Jason Woods, Christopher Staats, Sarah Brown (mother of Kyra Jordyn Brown and Ja'meir Jaysean Jordan Brown), Douglas Conley, ShaKiera Conley (mother of Matthew Munguia Conley), Felicity Conley (mother of Kaitlyn Reddick), Tiara Conley, Sharnel Conley, Miranda Conley. Rachel Yellman mother of Asen Emrys Erhart, Ketzal Maximus Yellman, Wesley Oliver Woods, Michael Woods father of  Elijah Akbar, Chloe Woods, Michael Woods Jr.

Carol was known for her long, thoughtful answers, her unique “teehee” laugh, and her unshakable urge to share weather alerts with her entire family. She had a knack for noticing everything and a readiness to speak her mind — often with warmth, sometimes with sass, and always with a deeply rooted love.

A lifelong learner, Carol attended both cosmetology school and a landscape design program, a fitting reflection of her deep love for beauty, detail, and nature.

She had a green thumb, and a home filled with houseplants and a flourishing garden. She was a skilled seamstress who sewed dresses for her daughters and grandkids — including a perfectly detailed pilgrim dress — and was quick to offer to design a wedding dress the moment someone got engaged.

Carol loved baking, crafting, crocheting, needlepointing, and refinishing furniture. She was always working on multiple projects at once and never hesitated to talk about them — at length — if you asked. She experimented with recipes, baked cookies and cakes, and often combined unexpected ingredients, just to see what might work.

Her dog Leepshun held a special place in her heart — so much so that even her third dog was named Leepshun too.

In her later years, Carol remained just as devoted to those around her. She kept a close, caring eye on her neighbors—offering rides, checking in when routines changed, and even shoveling sidewalks when they were out of town. She started helping at local food banks after bringing a friend there and continued volunteering with dedication. Whether keeping watch over her block or quietly lending a hand, Carol looked out for others in big and small ways.

Carol’s presence was one-of-a-kind: steady, expressive, and filled with care for those she loved. She will be remembered for her creativity, her laughter, and the way she made each person feel known.
