Catherine "Cathy" Victoria (nee Pickett) Garcia

Catherine Victoria Garcia (nee Pickett), age 82 of Jackson, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.

Cathy was born on December 12, 1943, in Denver, Colorado, daughter of Margaret (nee Reardon) and Edward Pickett. She graduated from Cathedral High School and went on to nursing school. Cathy was united in marriage to Thomas “Tom” Edward Garcia on March 16, 1963, in Denver, Colorado.

Cathy’s passion caring for others as a registered nurse took her from Colorado to Sacramento, California where she became an office manager for a few doctors. Her kindhearted nature also led her to becoming a lifelong nanny among owning and operating a cleaning service with her husband Tom.

On February 14, 1999, Cathy and Tom moved to Bremerton, Washington to be closer to their daughter, Maggie and grandsons, Michael and Ray. Tom passed away January 11, 2001, and soon Cathy moved to Hawaii with her daughter and grandsons where she continued to nanny, and again back to Washington. In 2012, Cathy moved with Maggie and Todd to Wisconsin, continuing her love of being a nanny until retiring.

Cathy enjoyed volunteering at the school of Lumen Christi Catholic Church in Mequon, WI, for many years, cooking, and baking, reading, and most recently diamond art. Most of all she loved her family.

Cathy is survived by her loving daughter, Maggie (Todd) Cote and cherished grandchildren, Michael (Shirley “Anne” Mayfield) Lamaster, Ryan “Ray” Lamaster, and Iya Taylor; step grandchildren, Crystal (Treven) Matthes, and Cameron Cote; and great -grandsons, Tegan and Tucker Matthes.

Memorial Service for Cathy will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 1:00 pm., at the Berndt Ledesma Funeral Home, 226 S. Main Street Hartford, Wisconsin 53027.
