Christa Margit (Jung) Schultheiss took her seat at the table of the Lord on 26 April 2026; after having spent her last days in peace and happiness surrounded by her children and friends. She will be greatly missed and always remembered.
Christa was born on 29 July 1934 to Amanda Leokadia (nee Heimann) Jung and Alfred Jung. She is survived by her sons Dean (Bill Diamond), Curt, and Derrek (Gloria Bonilla), and her daughters Kerstin (Dan Lefevre), and Tina (Spencer Myers). She is also survived by two grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott Muenzmaier) and Joshua Lefevre, and two great grandchildren, Zoe and Lily Muenzmaier. Finally, she is survived by three sisters, Ursel Gerleit, Ingrid Baehr, and Gisela Behrens. She is preceded by her husband, Frederick Karl Schultheiss, who passed away on 30 December 2008, her brother Harry Jung, and her sister Monika, who died as a baby during WWII.
Christa was born in Lodz, Poland. Her early childhood years were filled with happy memories spent on a farm during the summers. When she was 10 years old, she and her family fled war-torn Poland. She eventually ended up in Germany, where she would spend the next fourteen years. She lived in Celle, Germany from 1955 to 1958 where she worked as a furrier. On 4 June 1958, she boarded a ship to America, called the “New York”, to start a new life. From 1958-1960 she lived with her brother Harry in Fond du Lac, WI where she met her future husband, Fred, at a New Year’s Eve party in 1958. On 30 April 1960, they married. On 29 July 1968, they moved to 130 Teddy Ave in Hartford, WI and raised their five children.
As the matriarch of the family, Christa raised her family with unquestionable love and a quiet strength. She passed her love for gardening, service to her church and community, travel and the outdoors on to her children. She served Redeemer Lutheran Church in many capacities over the years from cookie fairs to ushering. She enjoyed and supported the local arts community in Hartford, particularly the Hartford Community Chorus in which Fred sang. She and Fred enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and Europe, and making new friends. She never dwelt on the hardships of her past but rather focused on giving her children a life of happiness, love, and opportunity.
We now celebrate a life well lived, a life of purpose. Christa had a positive influence on her family, friends and community that will reverberate through the generations. She was a beacon of light that always guided us in the right direction and will continue to shine as long as we keep her in our hearts.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 255 W. Lincoln Avenue Hartford, WI 53027.
Family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 10:30a.m.-12:00p.m.
