Grace B. (nee Gildemeister) Peil

Grace Bertha Peil, age 90, passed away at her home on May 23, 2024. She was born in Germantown, Wisconsin on November 15, 1933. She is the daughter of August and Frieda (Sager) Gildemeister. She was baptized December 10, 1933 and confirmed on May 25, 1947, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lannon, Wisconsin. She was united in marriage to Harvey Peil on April 25, 1954. After marriage, Grace and Harvey lived in Menomonee Falls for a short time while they built a house in New Lisbon. In December, 1964, the couple bought and moved to the Peil Farm in Horicon, Wisconsin, where they raised their sons and spent the rest of their lives. 

Grace loved to fish in years past; mowing the lawn around the farm was her favorite thing to do.   Grace sold Avon in the Horicon area for 32 years, having made many friends along the way. Grace loved the holidays and making holidays meals special for her family. Of most importance to her was her family and three sons, who always came first. 

Grace is survived by her sons, Kevin Peil (friend Valerie), Craig (Jane) Peil, Brad Peil, and sister Edna DeKoning. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Grace is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey (1981), sister Dorothy (Wally) Feuerhelm, brother Clarence (Leah) Gildemeister), and daughter-in-law Diana Peil. 

Visitation is Friday, May 31, 2024 from Noon to 2PM at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 400 S. Main Street in Juneau, WI. Funeral service will follow at 2PM at church. Rev. Nicholas Mount will officiate.  Interment Juneau City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Grace’s name to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau, Wisconsin. The family wishes to extend their thanks and gratitude to the Horicon EMS and Hillside Hospice for their excellent care of Grace.
