Hugh Harris Obituary

Hugh Dick Harris of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin passed peacefully August 1, 2025, at the age of 83 years.  He was born in Abington Township, Pennsylvania on April 28th, 1942, to his father Hugh Lenox Hodge Dick Harris and his mother Adelaide Alice (Ireland).

Dick grew up in Haddon Heights New Jersey and was a high school All-American football and baseball player for Haddon Heights high school along with being in the National Honor Society.  Upon graduation, Dick was recruited to play division 1 baseball and football at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.  After an exceptional freshman season, Dick signed a professional baseball contract with the Milwaukee Braves and was married to his beloved wife Karen (Shinn).  He ended his baseball career with the St. Louis Cardinal organization after an injury sliding into second base.

Karen and Dick returned to Dartmouth college so he could finish his college degree.  Upon graduation, Dick worked in the financial services industry selling insurance, investments, and real estate.  He moved to the Milwaukee area in 1975, and his family lived in Menomonee Falls, WI while raising his three children.  He started and owned his own financial service business called Harris Associates Financial Group until he retired.  Dick was an avid outdoorsman who loved to spend time hunting and fishing at his cottage in Presque Isle, WI.

Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Karen (Shinn), his three loving children Kimberly Flood (Marc), Colleen Wehmeyer, and Hugh Harris (Tracey).  Seven adoring grandchildren; Michael (Samantha), Jessica, Tyler (Nicole), Hunter (Kendra), Mitchell, Logan (Bailey), and Haley.  Eight great grandchildren; Brooks, Lincoln, Bryar, twins Hannah & Madilynn, Rowan, Asher, Henley and Dick’s sister Martha Delosso.  Dick was preceded in death by his parents.

A private memorial gathering will be held with family in Menomonee Falls to celebrate his life with no public funeral.  In lieu of flowers, it is the family wish that a donation be made to Kathy’s Hospice in West Bend, WI in his honor.
