James C. Berger, of Neosho, passed away on Friday, November 1, at the age of 83 years. He was born in Beaver Dam on November 23, 1940, the son of Robert and Esther (nee Heintz) Berger. James married Judy Lepien on February 12, 1961.
Jim was a farmer for most of his adult life, and farmed in the Township of Erin for 39 years. After retiring Jim spent many hours helping cut up deer and making him famous jerky. When he wasn’t doing that, he loved to be out in his shed, working on one thing or another. Back in the days when the Chicago Cubs were the only baseball team that broadcasted in the area, Jim discovered them, and they became his favorite team. Jim also liked to play cards and played sheepshead with several card clubs. Jim and Judy were polka dancers and enjoyed cutting up the rug when they had a chance to polka. He found great enjoyment watching his children’s events, and thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandkids’ sporting events. Jim will be deeply missed.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Judy, of 63 years, his loving children, Russel, William (Kim), Mike (Debbie), Kay (Jeff) Gall, and Heidi (Jeff) Kratz, and by his dearest grandchildren Robert (Kaila Voelkner) Berger, Callahan (Chandler) Everix, Jacob (Bailey) Berger, Taylor (Molly) Berger, Dylan Berger, Michael (Jeri) Berger, Emily (Zach) Schneider, Alyssa (Alex) Lugo, Meghan Martin, Hallie (Zach) Franklin, Hannah Gall, Miranda Gall, Cal Gall, Haley and Kacy Kratz, and by precious great-grandchildren Cora, Jolene, Marlee, Owen, Ellie, Jaxon, and Abraham Also survived by his sister-in-law Mary Lueth Mueller, and by other relatives and friends.
