Joyce M. (Conrad) Baier

Joyce M. Baier (nee Conrad), age 91 of De Pere, Wisconsin, formerly of Hartford, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025, at The Courtyard at Bellevue Memory Care and Assisted Living in Green Bay, WI.

Joyce was born November 13, 1933, in Hartford, WI to Ruth (nee Jacklin) and Leland “Jim” Conrad. Joyce married Gilbert “Gib” A. Baier on June 26, 1954, at St. Kilian Church, Hartford, where she was a longtime member. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1971 with a Bachelor of Education. Joyce was devoted to her lifelong career as a teacher, teaching  third grade and special education, retiring in 1993.

Joyce enjoyed genealogy and researching her family history, spending many summers at the family cottage on Post Lake in Elcho, WI; traveling around the country (including many trips with Kettle Moraine Tours), Europe, and celebrated her 80th birthday in Hawaii. Joyce also enjoyed snowmobiling, reading, and took great interest in geography and geology, always educating her family wherever they traveled. Joyce will be fondly remembered by her incredible and resilient nature, as well as her story telling.

Joyce is survived by her children, Susan Baier (Mike Nichols) of De Pere, Carol (Paul) Christensen of Fort Atkinson, and Diane (Dan) Meissner of Appleton; son-in-law, Russell Wills of Arkansas; and grandchildren, Sydney Wills, Kevin Christensen, Ann Christensen, Olivia and Nathan Meissner. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Janet Conrad, Lynn Conrad, and Wendy Talajkowski; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Ervin and Viola (nee Jones) Baier; husband of 55 years, Gib; brothers, Kenneth, Tom, and Phil Condrad; and her daughter, Barbara Wills.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 13, 2025, 11:00a.m. at the Berndt Ledesma Funeral Home, 226 S. Main Street Hartford, WI 53027. Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford, WI.
