Kristine Louise Klika passed away on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026, at the age of 73.
Kris was born June 13, 1952, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the second of fourteen children to Harvey Webster and Alice Jean (née McFarland). She graduated High School from Green Bay East High in 1970, then went on to Sacred Heart School of Practical Nursing, graduating in 1974. Kris started working at St. Joseph Hospital on the general medical surgery unit before going back to school in 1977. She obtained her BSN and RN at Marian College of Fond du Lac, graduating in 1981. Kris moved to London, England in 1983 and attended the Royal Masonic Queen Mary's Roehampton School of Nursing. There, she had the honor of attending the Florence Nightingale ceremony at Westminster Abbey. Kris soon married, then in 1988 moved just outside Toronto, Ontario Canada where she had her two children, Jim Rees and Sarah Rosero (née Rees). They later moved to the west coast of Canada, finally settling in a suburb of Vancouver, BC in 1997, where she worked for several organizations as a Nurse Manager and Case Manager. After her children left home and her separation, Kris decided to move back home to the States, first living in Overland Park, Kansas before finally returning to her home state of Wisconsin in 2022, where she bought a house in Beloit and laid down roots of her own. She spent her retirement renovating that house and growing a garden. Kris retired in 2023 after nursing for 52 years.
Kris loved working in her garden, as well as reading mystery novels, playing gin, crocheting, baking and cooking, watching the Hallmark channel, but most of all, she loved spending time with her children and their families. And she loved Christmas. She took great pride in her Irish roots and spoke often of her trip to Ireland with great fondness- she even kissed the Blarney Stone! Kris was a natural caregiver, which made her a natural mother. She just wanted to take care of the world, and she did her best to do so until her final days. Kris was a natural light in all our lives, and will always remain shining.
Remaining to cherish Kris' memory are her children, Jim and Sarah and their spouses, Whitney and Brian; grandchildren, Luca and Eleanor; brothers, Steve, Tom, Dave, Jim, John, Mike, Kevin; sisters, Mary, Katie, Linda, Jenny, Jane; over 50 nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; countless patients and friends; and her cat, Jazzy. Preceding Kris in death are parents, Harvey and Alice Jean and sister, Peggy.
