Mary Powell Obituary

Mary Lynn Powell, 69, of Hartford Wisconsin went to be with the Lord on March 1st, 2023.  Mary spent her last few months surrounded by family and loved ones as she bravely faced cancer head-on.

Mary was born on February 23, 1954, to Wilfred and Eileen Powell and lived much of her life at the family farm in the town of Hartford, Wisconsin.

As a young girl, Mary enjoyed showing animals through 4H, along with sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She played the clarinet in the band at Hartford Union High School. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison.  Mary was an intellectual woman, possessing a depth of knowledge and intuition to perceive truth.  Mary had a special gift in photography.  Pictures she took throughout the years were a blessing to family and friends.  Mary had a special place in her heart for the dogs and cats she had as pets throughout the years.

Mary’s son, Cahmlo Olive was born on October 14, 1978.  Being a mother and a homemaker mattered greatly to Mary.  She introduced important values to Cahmlo, and played a central role in his education and music experience. On March 17, 2014, Mary married Glen Spaulding, her best friend and confidant of 32 years.  The two of them worked together to restore the family farm where Mary grew up and made it their home.  Mary believed strongly in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Her faith in Him guided her throughout her life and strengthened her during challenging times.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Jerome Berkholtz and Michael Powell; her sister Susan Powell; and her first husband Gerald Olive of Milwaukee.

Mary is survived by her husband Glen Spaulding; her sister Jean Rust (husband Joe); her son Cahmlo Olive (wife Lindsey) and her grandson, Maddox; her stepson Oliver Spaulding, her stepdaughter Paige Dudovick (husband Travis), along with her beloved step-grandchildren Zelda and Warren.Mary had many cousins and friends who loved and supported her until the end.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on April 29: a visitation from 3-5 pm, a service at 5 pm led by Elder Stanley Hughes, and a luncheon to follow at Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, 226 S. Main Street, Hartford, Wisconsin.
