Melvin (Mel) A. Grulke went home to heaven on December 21, 2025, at Sunset Ridge in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin, where he lived since February 2024.
Mel was born on October 29, 1941, at Hustisford Hospital, to Ewald and Minnie (Kopfer) Grulke. Mel was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church in Hustisford on November 20, 1941. He attended Bethany Lutheran School and then Hustisford High School where he graduated in June 1959. Mel enlisted in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in France for three years. When he returned home Mel’s intentions were to go to college, but instead he accepted a position at Household Finance for 2 years and then a position at Hustisford State Bank in 1965, where he eventually retired as the bank president in 2010 after over 50 years of service.
On June 18, 1966, he married the former Sharon Jaeger at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon, Wisconsin. He is survived by Sharon, as well as his children Sheryl (Todd) Scott, David (Charity) Grulke, and Rebekah Grulke. He is also survived by grandchildren Ashley (Josh) Scalish, Stephaney (Austin) Bublitz, Nicholas Scott, Britley (Tyler) Diermeier, and Halle (Simon) Freeman. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Keegan and Tatum Bublitz, Lukas and Cole Scalish, and Averie and Ayven Diermeier. He is further survived by his brother, Harvey Grulke, and sisters-in-law Audrey Scharp, Arlene Grulke, and Bonnie Jaeger. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was recently preceded in death by his brother, Donald Grulke.
Visitation is Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church in Hustisford, Wisconsin. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Rev. Jonathan Loescher will officiate. Interment at Hustisford Cemetery. Military Honors under the auspices of Hustisford American Legion Post 420.
