Peter Hoffmann passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, at the age of 82. He was born in Chilton, WI to Hilda (Franzen) and Joseph Hoffmann. An outstanding student and athlete, he competed in football, basketball, track, and baseball at Chilton High School and played football and ran track at St. Norberts College, De Pere, Wisconsin. After graduation, Pete joined the Catholic Lay Mission Corps, teaching and coaching at Holy Cross High School in San Antonio, Texas for five years. Returning to Wisconsin, he taught social studies and coached football and track for 45 years. Pete was an active member of both St. Kilian’s Catholic church and St. Aidan’s Episcopal church and enjoyed volunteering with Friends of Pike Lake and Angel’s Grace Hospice. In addition to his passion for gardening, he loved maple syruping with friends and spent several years on a quest to taste as many varieties of apples as possible, eventually sampling over 650. Pete was a man of enormous integrity, compassion, and love.
Pete is survived by his wife Micki, his sons Matt (Lena), Ben (Amy), and Greg (Liz) and grandchildren Gabe, Abby, Drew, Anders, and Alex, as well as his twin brother Michael (Jan), his sister Helen (Jim) Reinkober, and brother Don. He will also be missed by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Family will receive relatives and friends Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 10 am until noon, at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, 670 East Monroe Ave, Hartford, WI. Memorial Service will follow at noon at the church. Rev. Esther Kramer and Rev. Loretta Mendoza, will officiate. Reception to follow in Fellowship Hall. Private Interment.
