Richard H. Holt

Richard H. Holt entered his heavenly home November 20, 2025.  He was blessed to have lived a long and full life for nearly 90 years. 

Richard was born on November 24, 1935, in Echo, Minnesota to Arthur and Frieda (nee Abraham) Holt.  He grew up in Echo and graduated from Echo High School.  He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1953 to 1956 and the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958.  After his time in the service, he studied electronics in Minneapolis.  During that time, he met Catherine Sibigtroth.  The two were married on June 26, 1960, in Minneapolis.  Shortly thereafter, they moved to Renton, Washington where Richard began working at Boeing.  While they lived in Renton, their daughter Debora was born.  Soon after, Richard and his family moved to Hutchinson, MN when he started a job as an electronic technician in the quality control department at 3M.  He worked for 3M until his retirement in 1993.  In 2005, Richard and Catherine moved to Hartford, WI to be closer to their daughter and family. 

Richard led an active life and pursued many hobbies and interests.  He particularly enjoyed the many fishing trips to Canada, the hunting trips out West, the snowmobiling trips in Minnesota and Yellowstone National Park.  He was a skilled woodworker and made many fine pieces for family, friends, and his church.  He also created numerous stained-glass pieces.  For several years, Richard and his friend Dave Gehrke enjoyed building and running a hobby sawmill operation.  A life-long passion for Richard was traveling.  There were many camping trips for vacations to parks and sites around the U.S.  Richard and Catherine enjoyed several cruises and bus trips with the cruise to Norway a highlight for Richard.  They also especially enjoyed spending the winter months of retirement in their favorite southern locale, Port Aransas, Texas.  Also, in their retirement years, Richard and Catherine took up square dancing and became ham radio operators, with call number AB0VRF.

Richard is survived by his daughter Debora (Scott) Dziadosz and grandson Bradley Dziadosz, sisters-in-law Peggy Holt and Shirley Holt, and nieces and a nephew.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Catherine; parents, sister and brother-in-law Emily and Eldon Kuehn, and brothers Carl and Lyle.

Family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. – 1:20 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 1001 Center Street Hartford, WI 53027. Memorial Service for Richard will follow at the church on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
