Richard Elsinger Obituary

Richard “Dick” Elsinger of Woodland passed away on April 27th, 2024, following a recurrence of cancer. Dick was born on February 12, 1936, to Thomas and Laura (Fritz) Elsinger in Hartford, WI. They made their home on a farm near Pike Lake but moved to Monches when Dick was 3 years old.

On his 17th birthday, Dick joined the US Marine Corp and completed his basic training in San Diego and proudly served in the Korean War. After his discharge, Dick met Darlene Rehberg and was married on December 14, 1957, at Holy Hill. Dick owned and operated Elsinger Locksmith and Towing for over 50 years and continued to operate his business until his health declined. Dick enjoyed visiting and fishing. For many years, he was a fixture at Slinger Raceway proudly supporting his son and grandsons.

Dick is survived by his children John Elsinger, Laura Elsinger, JoAnn Tomson, Tom Elsinger, Richie Elsinger, and Irene Erickson. He is further survived by 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, and loving friend, Barbara Murphy. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Darlene, and his daughter, Joyce and her husband Charles Hein, also two brothers Clarence and Raymond.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3rd at Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home 226 S. Main Hartford, Wi  from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm followed by Funeral Service. Burial at 2:30 pm at Pleasant Hill Cemetery 1185 W. Sumner St. Hartford, Wi with full military rights.
