Robert J. Coffey Sr., of Hartford, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on May 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with strokes and other health complications.
Robert was a hardworking and spirited man who took great pride in his career as a welder at John Deere, where he dedicated many years before retiring. Known for his love of speed and adventure, Robert especially enjoyed “laying rubber” in his Camaro—or any fast vehicle he had the chance to drive. He was also a regular at Slinger Speedway, where he loved the excitement and camaraderie of race day.
On September 8, 1979, Robert was united in marriage to Prudence Ann “Prudy” Pruitt at Holy Hill in Hubertus, Wisconsin. Though they later divorced, they shared a family and many years of memories together.
Robert is survived by his mother, Shirley O’Connor (Kirkess) predeceased by her husband Michael; his siblings, Brett, Barry predeceased by his wife Lisa, Brenda, and Liz Erickson; and his three children, Robert Jr., Krystal (Jesse) Eichenberger, and Jeremiah. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Faith, Emma, McKenna, Alexis, Oliver, Hunter, Evan, Ember, and Haisley, each of whom brought him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Coffey.
Robert will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of fast cars and racing, and the love he had for his family. His legacy lives on through his family and the memories he leaves behind.
