Rosalyn Zank Obituary

Rosalyn “Rosie” Ida Zank (Rupnow) of Juneau, WI was called to her eternal glory to be with Jesus on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the age of 88 years 1 month and 24 days.  Rosie was born October 19, 1935 to Alex and Lydia (Zastrow) Rupnow. Rosie was baptized November 10, 1935 and confirmed her faith in Jesus April 2, 1950 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church Oak Grove, WI. In her early years, she attended St. Peter’s Lutheran School, was active in 4-H, and helped around the family farm.  She loved to sing and was a member of St Peter’s choir.  It was there she met her future husband, Ronald Zank. They were united in marriage on April 28, 1957 at St. Peters by Ron’s father, Rev. Walter E. Zank. She was a supportive and devoted wife until Ron was called home to glory September 1, 1992. She never stopped missing him and looked forward to their joyous reunion in heaven. They began their life together moving around Oak Grove and Rural Beaver Dam area.  They were blessed with 4 daughters.  Then, in 1966 they moved their young family to Juneau and made it their home.  They became members of St John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Over the years they welcomed 3 sons to complete their family. Rosie had a heart for service to her Lord and to everyone she knew and loved.  Rosie and her family have served as custodians at St John’s for over 50 years.  Rosie was active in the St. John’s choir, altar guild, ladies aid, and helped out in any way she could. Rosie enjoyed spending time with and attending special events with her family and friends. She loved to bake, cook, and always made sure everyone was eating other than her...  Her specialty at family or church gatherings was her Lemon and Dream bars. When others used her recipe the common adage was “These aren't like Rosie’s.” Rosie loved her flowers and plants. She was blessed with a green thumb.  She was an avid gardener, always canning, freezing, or pickling vegetables during harvest season. If the weather was nice, she could always be found outside caring for her flowers and garden. Rosie loved children and provided in-home daycare for many children through the years. She was a past member of the St John’s Parent Teachers Association, Juneau Fire Dept. Auxiliary and Lakeside Lutheran High School Ladies Guild. Rosie enjoyed watching the Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks, she seldom missed a game and always enjoyed the company of her grandson, Nick. He spent a lot of time with her and could always make her laugh and smile. Rosie will be remembered for her love and zeal for Jesus, the love she gave to her family, and her generosity and care to friends and neighbors. But all will remember her warm smile with a little giggle followed by a grin.

Rosie is loved and missed by her 7 children:  Carol (Bruce) Soldner, Phyllis (Daniel) Wegener, Ellen Zank, Elaine Zank, Daniel (Barbara) Zank, David (Michelle) Zank, and Nathan Zank.Rosie was blessed with 12 grandchildren & 5 great grandsons.  Grandchildren:  Michael (Laura) Soldner, Joshua (Amy) Soldner, Douglas (Dana) Wegener, Stacey (Nathan) Mau, Dustin Wegener (Polina), Elizabeth Zank, Nicholas Zank, Alyssa (Caleb) Schmitt, Laura Zank, Maddy Zank (fiancé David), Emily Zank, Olivia Zank.  Five Great Grandsons:  Mason & Logan Soldner, Declan & Dylan Wegener, Callen Schmitt.  Her niece, Jane Voss and brother-in-law, Donald Voss, Extended family:  Paul, Regan, Riley, Samantha, and Jordan Schupmann, cousins, nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives.
