Rosemary “Rosie” Helen Salinger, age 88, gained her angel wings on August 16, 2026, in her daughter’s Hustisford, Wisconsin home, surrounded by her three children. She is now reunited with her beloved husband to whom she was married for 64 years, John A Salinger, father and mother-Walter and Catherine Wustner, and brother William (Georgia) Wustner.
Rosie lived a life centered around family, friendship, and making the most of every moment. Her caring nature was one of the qualities that defined her. She built a life and legacy through her in-home daycare, where she cared for children and became a special part of their early lives. Caring for others came naturally to Rosie, and the love she gave was felt by many. For many years, she devoted herself to caring for her own mother and, later, her husband, John, giving them both her time, love, and gentle care.
Rosie carried that same spirit of caregiving and love throughout her retirement. She was a proud member of the Columbiettes, an organization that brought her meaningful friendships, cherished memories, and opportunities to give back to her community.
Rosemary and John enjoyed their retirement together, traveling in their motor home, sightseeing across the states, and visiting their children and grandchildren. They loved their home in the Hamptons (Auburndale, FL), enjoyed playing golf together and hosting friends for card game nights. In her later years, Rosie found joy in the things she loved most—shopping for her family, playing cards, spending time with loved ones, and watching the Tampa Bay Rays. These traditions and activities became part of the family memories Rosie left with her children and grandchildren.
Above all, her greatest joy was her family.
She is survived by her three children: Richard Salinger, Catherine (Neal) Bailey, and Julie (Patrick) Kolp, her brother, John (Darlene) Wustner, and two beloved grandchildren, Kayla & Carely Bailey; her sisters-in-laws: Jane (the late Douglas) Boerner, Joy (Richard) Kolm, and Joan Salinger.
Though she may no longer be sitting at the card table, watching the Rays, or enjoying a family dinner, the memories of those moments, and the love she shared with her family, will remain forever.
She is and always will be loved and missed; however, she will forever live in our hearts.
Memorial visitation will be held on Friday October 2nd, 2026, at Holy Apostle Church, 16000 W National Ave, New Berlin WI, from 10:00am to 10:45am with a Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Burial to follow at Holy Apostles Cemetery.
