I just happened upon this passing of Fr. Bill. I was just thinking about him the other day. I was stationed with him at St. Florian's back in the late 1980s when I was a Carmelite. We had many laughs and I will always remember his "barks" and "moos" ! He brought joy when I needed it. Rest In Peace dear Fr. Bill.

Back in the 1950's Fr. Alphonse Healy gave retreats at the Dominican Retreat House in Elkins Park, PA and I always went when he was the Retreat Master. He gave my pre-wedding retreat in September of 1956. In 2006 (Oct. 27th) I decided to attend the Carmelite Retreat to celebrate what would have been my 50th Wedding Anniversary (my husband died in 1998) and the priest was Fr. William Healy (a nephew???) Imagine my delight when I saw Fr. Healy (back to his Baptismal name) - a bit older but still strong of voice. those kind, deep set piercing eyes, and that smile. He kindly offered the Mass that evening for my husband and even quoted the old Instruction Before Marriage that was read prior to the vows back then. I had read and re-read this often through the years - he did not know of my devotion to this passage. This holy man was an influence in my life - he laughed when I told him he was the one who kept me and my friends "on the straight and narrow" in our youth. That weekend was a gift from God - as was Fr. Healy's entire life.

I am praying for him as we ought to do according to the Church's teaching, but also to him especially for conversions for family members.

A prayer he taught me, "Lord I give you my past just as it is; whatever good I have done, make perfect, whatever bad, I accept (with my will) your mercy."

Father Bill Healy has had a place in my heart ever since the first time I heard him at a conference for Religious Sister in Detroit, Michigan sometime around 1975. I had the privilege of hearing a few of his conferences throughout those years. He changed my life just by being the Priest that God ordained him to be. A couple of years ago I started looking for him at different times through "google" - but to no avail until today. I am sad that I did not have a chance to thank him. I know he is with the Lord - walking through the halls of Heaven with our Lady - along with all of the Saints and Angels! I am sure he received a great "Welcome Home Father - receive the Crown that the Lord has prepared for you forever." Please pray for me Father. I know your prayers are powerful. Thank you for all the graces I received from your talks - and especially your holy priestly presence.

I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for your spiritual support and love you gave to my family throughout the years and in our darkest hours. Most importantly, thank you for being such a great friend and spiritual support for my father for almost 30 years. I know you were his best friend, he cherished every time he got to see you, and there were many trips to Organ Piper Pizza :) I remember a little over a month ago, I went over to my parents' house and saw a six pack of Spaten beer he was going to bring you next time you both saw each other. I thought what a gift that was, to be 96 years old and still be able to enjoy life. It was a wonderful thing that I know all of us strive to achieve. You will be missed dearly by my family, please watch over us, especially my father, and continue to provide him the love and guidance you did on earth.

Rest in Peace,
Michelle

Thank you dear Fr Healy for your faithful vocation in Our Lord's service. You have been a Spiritual Assistant by virtue of your Des Plaines, IL. OCDS taped recordings and we will miss you and our last faith-filled and faithful Spiritual Assistant, Fr. Patrick Farrell, OCD.

Praying for a new Spiritual Assistant for our Libertyville community. Your devotion to the Discalced Carmelite Order and selfless commitment to the OCDS will ever be held in our hearts.

May you now be resting in our Lord's Heavenly Arms!
Well done, my good and faithful servant!

While we never met, I was spiritually present and looked forward to your council via the recordings when we had no spiritual assistant. Pray for each of us and know you remain in my prayers with fond memories of your voice and your teachings on the Discalced Carmelite way of life.

I will always remember Fr. Bill as a very kind and generous friar. I met him when I was a postulant and always enjoyed his company whenever I would visit St Florian's. I enjoyed his stories about his various ministries especially when he would talk about his visits to the nuns. One of my Nursing instructors remembered Fr. Bill as she was his nurse. She would always ask about Fr. Bill whenever he would write to me. God has certainly blessed Fr Bill with a long life, and has blessed us with having experienced having him in our lives. May he be in peace and joy in the presence of the Father and the saints as well as his family who has preceded him to heaven. Rest in Peace Fr. Bill - Ora pro nobis.

I was privileged to get to know and visit with Fr. Bill during his stay at St. Anne's over the past year many times, whether in his room or in the dining room. He was always positively joyful in sharing his faith with me as well as with the two young men I brought to him so they could discuss their monastic vocations and receive guidance from him. He would explain something, then I'd repeat it in my own words, looking for clarification, and he'd say, "That's it; you've got it!" with a bright smile on his face and glisten in his eyes. Occasionally, after my brief visits, he'd say, "you've made this old friar happy." How little did he know how happy I was made by just being able to visit him. I thank God for his life dedicated to the Lord and in helping others so much, and for his faithfulness, kindness, and joy.
in Christ, with prayers, Rita McKillip Oct. 13, 2016
